CDC Recommends Against Nonessential Travel to Italy

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) “recommends that travelers avoid all nonessential travel to Italy.”

In addition, most of Italy is now under a Level 3 advisory from the U.S. Department of State due to a widespread ongoing outbreak of respiratory illness (COVID-19) caused by a novel (new) coronavirus that can be spread from person to person. A level 3 advisory means that travellers should reconsider travel.

The Lombardy and Veneto regions of northern Italy are under a Level 4 (Do Not Travel) advisory due to the level of community transmission of the virus and imposition of local quarantine procedures in those areas.
