DW reports that the chair of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) has passed to Germany for one year, with the aim of countering acts and perpetrators of Holocaust denial and falsification.
The IHRA was initiated in 1998 by former Swedish Prime Minister Göran Persson, who is now 71 years old. Today, the IHRA’s membership consists of 34 member countries, each of whom recognizes that international political coordination is imperative to strengthen the moral commitment of societies and to combat growing Holocaust denial and antisemitism.
Seventy-five years after the end of WWII, the country that perpetrated virulent antisemitism and the Holocaust leads an international effort to battle against Holocaust denial and antisemitism. This is great to see. I trust Germany to do an outstanding job.
